Double chin removal is carried out on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia, analgosedation or general anaesthesia.

A gentle method of double chin removal using liposuction effectively eliminates excess fat cells by suctioning them out – by inserting a small cannula through tiny incisions under the chin or behind the ears.

It is a half-hour procedure, after which the patient is fitted with an elastic compression bandage and can return to their normal daily routine.

The principle behind removing a double chin with a facelift involves making an incision from the temple area above the ears, downwards in front of the earlobe, then upwards along the crease behind the earlobe until the incision ends in the hairline.

The skin is loosened, lifted, and the excess skin removed. The wound is sutured with absorbable stitches, covered with a dressing and secured with an elastic compression bandage.

Removing a double chin by means of a facelift takes around 60 minutes, requires a one-day hospital stay and involves about a week’s time off work. However, the result is well worth it!

As double chin liposuction involves very sensitive areas with delicate nerve endings, the patient may experience pain after the procedure, and there may be slight swelling at the injection sites.

Painkillers may therefore be prescribed. The swelling will subside on its own, and it is advisable to apply ice to the treated area. A compression bandage must be worn for approximately 14 days.

After double chin removal, it is recommended to avoid tanning beds, saunas or strenuous physical activity.

The results of double chin removal are long-lasting and durable provided you maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep your weight under control.

The results reach their peak within 1–3 months, by which time the outcome of the surgical double chin removal is fully visible.
