It might seem that liposuction of the knees is an unusual procedure, but the opposite is true. These days, it is one of the more common cosmetic procedures for improving the appearance of the legs. And who wouldn’t want beautifully shaped, attractive legs?

Excess fat around the knees usually accumulates in the upper thigh area and on the inner side of the knees; this is down to genetic predisposition, which you cannot influence, and we often see clients who are slim.

Knee liposuction is an effective way of removing excess fat from the knees. The procedure involves the use of a tumescent solution and the suction of subcutaneous fat tissue using fine cannulas to reshape the legs and improve their appearance.

Liposuction of the knees is only suitable for healthy patients. We recommend that you stop taking any blood-thinning medication, as well as any medication containing acetylsalicylic acid, at least two weeks before the liposuction procedure.

The liposuction procedure itself is carried out under local anaesthesia or analgosedation and takes approximately 60 minutes. The treatment area is infused with a tumescent solution containing an anaesthetic and adrenaline to reduce bleeding.

We remove excess fat using thin cannulas connected to a suction device.

After the procedure, we apply compression garments and you will be discharged home with post-operative instructions. No stitches are required, and the anaesthetic effect lasts for up to 20 hours. The procedure can also be combined with further removal of lipoedema and fat from other problem areas.

After the procedure, the treated area may be red, with slight swelling and bruising, which will subside within a few days.

You should wear compression garments for 2–4 weeks, except when washing. You may shower after 24 hours. We recommend rest for 7 days and avoiding saunas, solariums and strenuous physical activity for the first month.

For standard liposuction, we recommend massages using wooden rollers for 30 minutes a day for 14 days. The first results are visible after 2 weeks, with the final result apparent after 2 months.

The first follow-up appointment takes place 7 days after the procedure, with further appointments as required. Our doctors remain available to answer any questions you may have.
