Lip augmentation in Prague

Before the procedure – As with any procedure, you will need to consult a doctor, who will determine the exact procedure and explain it to you. The procedure is well tolerated, but the patient must be in good health.

For about a week before lip augmentation surgery, you should avoid taking medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid or painkillers.

The procedure – Lip augmentation is an outpatient procedure carried out under local or general anaesthesia. If performed under general anaesthesia, a hospital stay is required. If local anaesthesia is used, you can go home the same day.

So how does the surgical augmentation procedure work? Small incisions are made at several points on the inside of the lips; the tissue is then lifted, repositioned and sutured.

The whole procedure takes about half an hour, depending on the area being treated. As lip augmentation is carried out from the inside, no visible scars remain.

The treatment can be combined with certain cosmetic procedures, including laser treatments.

By adding volume through lip augmentation, we can help achieve a fuller and more sensual appearance of the lips. There are several methods available for this procedure. Depending on the method chosen, we can then discuss how long the results will last. Methods of lip augmentation: lipofilling (transfer of adipose tissue from the subcutaneous layer), volume enhancement using hyaluronic acid injections, and surgical lip augmentation.

Volume restoration using hyaluronic acid-based fillers or autologous fat is only temporary. The fillers are gradually absorbed and the treatment must be repeated after approximately 12 months. A permanent solution for lip augmentation can only be achieved surgically.

Your lips may feel sensitive after the operation. Swelling may occur in the area for a week.

We recommend cooling the treated area and eating a liquid diet for a few days.

Oral hygiene is also very important after eating. It is advisable to rinse with a chamomile solution or an antiseptic mouthwash.

After 2 weeks, pressure massages may be started in accordance with the attending doctor’s instructions.

Physical activity is generally suitable after about 5 days, whilst normal daily activities can be resumed the following day. There is no need to remove the stitches if absorbable ones were used.

For other lip augmentation methods, the post-operative care procedure is the same. However, it is never advisable to massage the lips vigorously; only do so gently. If lip augmentation was carried out using the patient’s own fat, the area where the fat was harvested must be protected with a plaster to prevent contact with water for about 4 days.
