No hospitalisation
required At our clinic, otoplasty can be performed using local anaesthesia alone. This not only makes the procedure much gentler on the body, but also eliminates the need for hospitalisation. You can go home the very same day.

Combined procedures
This procedure can be combined with others, such as rhinoplasty or lip augmentation. We also offer eyelid surgery, abdominoplasty and many other procedures.

Ear surgery, or otoplasty, successfully addresses problems with the ears, whether they are protruding, deformed or asymmetrical.

This is a congenital aesthetic issue affecting a large proportion of the population. The most common procedure involves adjusting the ears so that they lie flat against the head, a process known as ‘pinning’.

In addition, otoplasty is also effective in reshaping and correcting various abnormalities, for example following injuries, underdeveloped ears at birth, botched surgery and other conditions.

It is not only the eyes, lips and nose, but also the ears that shape the facial appearance. However, they are often not given the attention they deserve.

Your treating doctor will always discuss with you whether ear or auricle surgery is appropriate, explain the procedure to you and suggest the best solution to achieve a natural-looking result.

It is not recommended to take medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid for at least one week prior to the procedure, as these can reduce blood clotting.

The procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia, analgosedation or general anaesthesia (in which case hospitalisation is required). The incision is preferably made in the crease between the auricle and the area behind the ears, so that the resulting scar is not visible.

During the procedure, the position of the cartilage is adjusted and, if necessary, the cartilage may be filed down.

The shape of both auricles is checked and adjusted to ensure that both sides are symmetrical.

The treated area is then pulled tight, sutured with absorbable stitches and secured with special dressing material.

At our clinic, we also offer the option of combining different procedures. For example, if you are concerned about a poorly shaped chin, this can be addressed with chin plastic surgery, which will give your chin a shape and size that better suits your face. Everything depends on a consultation with your doctor.

After the procedure, you may experience swelling and pain, for which your treating doctor will prescribe suitable medication. Dry ice packs are recommended. All these unpleasant symptoms will subside after approximately 14 days.

Initially, the treated area is protected by a firm dressing; after several dressing changes and a few days, this is replaced by an elastic headband, which must be worn at all times, including at night. It is advisable to sleep on your back during the first week.

You should expect a week of rest, ideally whilst on sick leave.

You must refrain from sporting activities for 2 weeks. The same applies to washing your hair, including colouring, to prevent infection.

We also advise against exposure to direct sunlight and staying in cold places.

Any stitches used during the procedure will be removed on approximately the 10th day.

Recovery depends on the patient’s ability to heal, strict adherence to post-operative instructions, and also on the body itself and how quickly it can cope with the procedure.

The effects of the operation are immediate, but the final result is only visible after 3 months.
