How will the procedure be carried out?

The treatment to reduce sweating can be applied to the underarms, back, palms, soles of the feet and also the forehead. It is a short procedure lasting around a quarter of an hour, which can be carried out at any time of day.

The active ingredient is administered via several injections with fine needles under the skin into pre-determined areas. This treatment is used in areas affected by the highest levels of sweat production, and the procedure can also be combined with other non-invasive treatments, such as hyaluronic acid fillers or mesothreads.

The procedure is recommended for both women and men aged 18 and over who have no contraindications (pregnancy, breastfeeding, inflammatory conditions, infections, antibiotic treatment, cancer, blood clotting disorders, diabetes, thyroid disorders, tuberculosis).

It is important always to inform your doctor of any health issues and any medicines you are taking, in order to avoid unnecessary subsequent health problems.

What about recovery after the procedure?

Following the procedure, the patient can resume their normal work and personal life without restriction and without the need for a recovery period. The only requirement is to avoid visiting saunas or solariums for two days after the procedure and to refrain from physically strenuous activity.

Concerns about scarring, the sweat glands shifting to other parts of the body, or increased sweating in other areas following the procedure are unfounded; there is no risk of any such complications.

After the procedure, swelling, bruising or redness may appear on the skin at the treatment site, but these will disappear within approximately two days.

The procedure is generally well tolerated; in rare cases, side effects such as a headache or muscle soreness may occur, but these are only temporary.

Who will be guiding you through the procedure to stop sweating?

Dr Jana Votrubová – a specialist in dermatology with extensive practical and academic experience. Her areas of specialisation include the use of lasers, botulinum toxin and Juvederm dermal fillers.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Not sure whether sweat reduction is right for you? We’d be happy to discuss everything with you during a personal consultation.

What causes excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)?

As well as a genetic predisposition, excessive sweating is often triggered by stress or an unhealthy lifestyle (too much coffee, sugar or alcohol, spicy food, a magnesium deficiency, etc.).

Hyperhidrosis can also be a symptom of certain medical conditions, so it is advisable to undergo a medical examination.

What are the treatments for excessive sweating?

An alternative to the procedure for treating excessive sweating by injecting a substance with a needle is micro-needle radiofrequency treatment, which can also resolve the problem of excessive sweating. Our clinic also offers laser treatment for excessive sweating. These methods may offer longer-lasting results.

Is the procedure painful?

This is a painless outpatient procedure; for more sensitive patients, an anaesthetic ointment can be applied to the treatment area. In the case of treating excessive sweating on the soles of the feet, which may be perceived as more painful, analgosedation is recommended.

How long does the effect last?

In the case of botulinum toxin injections, the results become apparent within 24 hours of the treatment, are more pronounced 2–8 days after the treatment, and last for 6 to 12 months, depending on the individual patient. After this, it is advisable to repeat the treatment.
