Tattoo removal

We have been specialising in tattoo removal for 11 years now, and during that time we have treated thousands of clients from across the Czech Republic and abroad. For tattoo removal, we use the most powerful depigmentation laser in the Czech Republic – a high-powered medical laser certified by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

To remove a tattoo, it is essential to use the highest-quality lasers to ensure the treatment is safe and leaves no scars. Under no circumstances do we recommend having a tattoo removed at beauty or tattoo parlours, where the lasers are ineffective and treatment with these Chinese devices can often lead to irreversible scarring of the skin.

The world’s leading laser is the high-power laser we use here. The pulse duration is an incredible 4 nanoseconds. This meets the criteria for the shortest possible laser pulses, which help to eliminate the thermal effect whilst still being able to penetrate deeply, thereby removing even professional and highly detailed tattoos. Furthermore, with a pulse that is almost 100 times shorter than that of other lasers, it prevents damage to surrounding tissue.

The procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis, without the need for anaesthesia; an anaesthetic ointment may be used only for more sensitive individuals. During the laser pulse – which lasts approximately 4 billionths of a second – the laser beam selectively absorbs the tattoo pigment, thereby protecting the surrounding tissue from damage. Thanks to the high power of the laser beam, it penetrates deep beneath the skin, breaking the tattoo pigment down into finer particles which are more easily absorbed and subsequently cleared by the immune system. The tattoo becomes lighter with repeated treatment sessions.

By using higher laser beam settings – i.e. with greater effectiveness but less impact on the skin, and without scarring – it is possible to remove coloured tattoos across the entire spectrum, from dark to lighter shades; however, it is always essential to consult a doctor to ensure that the removal of unwanted or botched tattoos or permanent make-up is as gentle and effective as possible. The quality of our laser does indeed allow for virtually painless removal. For those who are particularly sensitive to pain, a numbing cream is available, which is applied to the treatment area approximately one hour in advance.

As a single treatment will not remove a tattoo, repeat sessions are necessary. This is because the tattoo pigment lies in several deeper layers, which the laser must break down. Repeat sessions can be carried out no sooner than 6–8 weeks after the initial treatment. Tattoos done by professionals will require at least 4–6 sessions. Tattoos done by amateurs require slightly fewer sessions; for example, 2–3 sessions are usually sufficient to remove permanent make-up. The number of sessions required depends on many factors. These include the composition of the tattoo pigment, the colour shades and the depth of the tattoo. It also depends on whether the tattoo is new or older, its location, the state of the immune system and so on.

We carry out removal using lasers, but also by excision (cutting out the tattoo in the case of smaller tattoos). This is a plastic surgery procedure performed in an operating theatre, which can be carried out under general anaesthesia. However, scars following tattoo removal by excision are common and you must be prepared for them.

The treated skin may become red and swollen, and you may experience a burning sensation, but these symptoms will gradually subside. We do not recommend exposing the treated skin to sunlight, saunas or swimming pools for several weeks. Instead, you should apply high-quality creams with a high SPF to the treated area and follow the instructions we will provide after the treatment.
