The procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia (or under general anaesthesia/analgosedation).

A tumescent solution containing a substance that constricts blood vessels – thereby reducing bleeding – is injected into pre-determined problem areas of the body, together with an anaesthetic to numb the area.

Twice the volume of solution required for the amount of fat to be removed is injected under the skin. Approximately 30 minutes are allowed for these substances to take effect.

The fat tissue is then suctioned out using special liposuction cannulas, which are inserted under the skin through small incisions measuring 2–4 mm.

On the day of the procedure, tumescent liposuction may be supplemented with so-called vibrating liposuction, which further accelerates fat removal and reduces unevenness, or SlimLipo laser liposuction, which can be used in the final stage to perfectly smooth out any unevenness that may have arisen.

The procedure is generally well tolerated; the treated areas may be red, and swelling or bruising may appear at the injection sites, but these will disappear within a few days.

Hospitalisation is not required for outpatient treatment under local anaesthesia; you can resume your normal daily activities almost immediately, although we recommend limiting your activities to lighter ones for at least 3 days.

In the case of general anaesthesia, a one-day hospital stay is always required, followed by one week of restricted work capacity.

As standard, a one-month recovery period is observed, during which special elastic compression garments must be worn, even overnight. It goes without saying that you must ensure you drink plenty of fluids!

Important to know – a good result depends not only on the quality and elasticity of the skin, but also on its shrinkage.

After fat removal, the subcutaneous area is loosened, and as the skin’s elasticity decreases with age, unsightly excess skin may become apparent. In extreme cases, this can be removed as part of a tummy tuck.

The final result is usually visible after just 14 days, although for some people it may take up to 2 months.
