Vaser Lipo ultrasound-assisted liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrasound waves to break down fat cells. The ultrasound waves are targeted directly at the fat cells, which are then removed using thin cannulas. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic or general anaesthesia, depending on the extent of the area being treated, and usually takes 1–2 hours.

The surgeon first applies a tumescent solution, which loosens the fat cells and reduces bleeding. They then insert a thin cannula fitted with an ultrasound probe, which uses ultrasound waves to break down the fat in a targeted manner. The broken-down fat is gently suctioned away.

After the procedure, compression garments are worn to aid healing and support body contouring.

Before treatment, you must consult a doctor, who will assess the suitability of the procedure and your state of health.

You will need to stop taking blood-thinning medication and certain dietary supplements (such as ginkgo or omega-3) approximately 10–14 days in advance.

On the day of the procedure, please arrive having fasted, do not smoke, and avoid stress and physical exertion. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and, if you are having a general anaesthetic, bringing someone with you to take you home.

Mild swelling, bruising or tenderness in the treated area are common and usually subside within a few days to weeks.

Compression garments are usually worn for 4–6 weeks. Normal daily activities can be resumed after a few days, whilst physical exertion and sport should be postponed for 2–3 weeks.

The final result becomes visible gradually, usually after 1–3 months, once the swelling has subsided and the tissue has stabilised.
