Lipedema treatment is a multidisciplinary problem that includes areas of vascular surgery, lymphology and phlebology. Before any procedure and lipedema treatment, it is necessary to determine the patient’s condition using diagnostic methods and choose treatment accordingly. Thanks to the complexity of our facility, we can help clients with lipedema problems and ensure accurate and effective treatment.
Lipedema examination at our clinic includes an initial consultation and possibly ultrasound diagnostics if necessary. Based on the first examination, the treating physician determines whether the client suffers from lipedema, whether venous insufficiency (chronic venous insufficiency) is present and suggests a possible treatment procedure. As a supplementary examination, examination by the clinic’s lymphologist can be performed.
The initial consultation takes about 30 minutes, the price of this examination including ultrasound diagnostics is 1,800 CZK.
If venous insufficiency is present, the vascular surgeon performs venous insufficiency therapy before the actual lipedema treatment. Without solving this problem, lipedema treatment would be ineffective and risky. We perform venous procedures at our clinic by laser ablation or using venous glue under local anesthesia – this is approximately a 60-minute procedure.
Lipedema, also called fat leggings syndrome, is characterized by excessive pathological fat accumulation, particularly in the areas of the lower extremities and arms. Lipedema is a chronic progressive disease that affects exclusively women in a frequency of 9 to 15% of the adult female population. It is often mistakenly confused with lymphatic or venous swelling and obesity. Unfortunately, lipedema is not just an aesthetic problem, but also causes pain, sensitivity to touch, spontaneous bruising (hematomas) and in higher stages also walking problems. The cause of lipedema is not yet known, hormonal changes in the patient are considered the biggest role. It often begins to appear during puberty and gradually the problem worsens. Unfortunately, lipedema cannot be removed by diets, exercise, etc.

Our medical facility has a water-jet based device for lipedema treatment. This device is used by lipedema treatment specialist – Dr. Offermann, who successfully treats hundreds of patients annually with this device in Germany. It is a gentle technique that uses a water jet to separate problematic fat from surrounding tissues and then suctions it out. During 1 session, it is possible to treat a maximum of 1 area (thighs, calves or arms). If it is necessary to treat more areas, it is advisable to repeat the procedure.
We perform the procedure under general anesthesia. After the procedure, it is necessary to stay at our clinic for 1 night and wear special compression garments.
Our treatment can also be supplemented with complementary therapy: wearing compression garments, dietary adjustments and regular therapeutic lymphatic drainage.
