Forehead and Brow Lift is becoming a very popular treatment throughout the world and also at our clinic. The cheeks, the face and the forehead form the complete appearance of a person; the area between the eyebrows underlines individuality. However, during aging there is both a loss of elasticity and lowering of the forehead, formation of wrinkles between the eyebrows and the forehead. A brow lift is one of the steps to lift the forehead and eyebrows, while rejuvenating the eye area. Eyebrows can be modelled; wrinkles at the root of the nose, transversal or horizontal wrinkles on the forehead can be smoothened, or it’s possible to just slightly shift the eyebrows to achieve a brighter and more optimistic facial expression
The procedure is performed in local anaesthesia or in general anaesthesia or analgo-sedation. A brow or forehead lift can be done in several ways, either by lifting the forehead, eyebrows or just by re-shaping eyebrows to perfect their symmetry. It’s always possible to combine both ways. In the case of standard plastic surgery treatment, the cut is done at the top of the forehead above the hairline and it’s hidden beneath the hair or it is done just above the eyebrows so that the scar is hidden by the eyebrows (in the case of remodelling). Forehead or brow lift takes about 1.5 hours and allows you to return to work and personal life after approximately one-week convalescence, sometimes even the next day, depending on the treated area and the size of the surgery. The treatment is both for women and men and it can be combined with other aesthetic treatments such as facelift, lipo-filling, botulinum toxin etc. for even better results. Forehead or brow lift raises and makes the treated area smoother in order to achieve a younger appearance. It’s a versatile solution with minimal post-operative stress and pain.
The surgery can be combined with other less or more invasive procedures. This can be both eyelid surgery and a classic facelift in general anaesthesia.
After anaesthesia, depending on the size of the surgery, short elongated cuts are made in the hairy part of the forehead and near the temples; or a larger cut is made between the two earlobes. Forehead skin tissue is stretched up (possibly an endoscope may be used) and reduced – i.e. the excess skin is removed and the wound is stitched after introduction of the drains. Hospitalisation is required after surgery in general anaesthesia. The treated area is secured by a special compression bandage to avoid large swelling and also to help the tissue to heal faster. The area may be swollen, depending on the sensitivity of the skin.

The procedure is fast, safe and well tolerated, but there are some restrictions. You shouldn’t smoke for about 2 weeks before the surgery – as smoking increases the risk of complications and reduces healing.
welling, redness, bruising, tingling and stiffness appear after surgery, but they gradually disappear after about 2-10 days. The patient repeatedly comes for dressings changed and then they comes for a check-up and for their stitches to be removed after 14 days. If drains were used during the treatment, they are removed after about 2 days. It is desirable to sleep in an elevated position. After a week, you can begin doing the activities that you used to do before the procedure, but we don’t recommend any intensive physical activities for at least a month, including sports, sauna, tanning salon, sunbathing. Be careful when combing your hair and also with the hot air from hairdryers. Usually, the procedure requires at least a week-long convalescence in work incapacity. It’s always necessary to observe the post-operative regime set by the attending physician.
The procedure is permanent depending on individual body functioning, skin elasticity or genetic predispositions.
