The main purpose of the method is to infuse the treated area with a special tumescent solution that has the ability to dissolve subcutaneous fat cells, or rather, to inflate and break them down so that excess fat can subsequently be suctioned out using special liposuction cannulas connected to a suction device (at our clinic, we use a top-of-the-line Swiss liposuction device). However, it is always important to have a consultation with a doctor regarding the adaptability to the procedure. The time requirement is 2–3 hours depending on the size of the treated area. Tumescent liposuction can be effectively combined with so-called laser liposuction, which is performed at our clinic using a German liposuction laser with a wavelength of 980 nm. Laser liposuction, in combination with vibration liposuction, will enhance the effect of the procedure, tighten the subcutaneous tissue after liposuction, and further eliminate any irregularities.
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia (or under general anesthesia/analgosedation). A tumescent solution containing a substance that constricts blood vessels, thereby reducing bleeding, along with an anesthetic that aids in numbing, is injected into predetermined problematic areas of the body. A double amount of solution is applied under the skin compared to the amount of fat that will be suctioned out. Approximately 30 minutes is reserved for the activation of these substances. Then, using special liposuction cannulas, which are inserted under the skin through small incisions of 2–4 mm, the fatty tissue is suctioned out.

If you decide to undergo the procedure, a consultation with the treating physician is necessary, who will propose the optimal solution so that the result is as minimally burdensome for you as possible and with the best outcome.
Only healthy patients are allowed to undergo the procedure! However, treatment may not always be possible, so attention should be paid if:
– You have an ongoing inflammation, infection, or are 14 days post-viral illness
– You are being treated for a tumor disease
– You are being treated for epilepsy
– You suffer from high blood pressure
– You have a high-risk pregnancy
– You suffer from a blood clotting disorder
It is advisable to discontinue blood-thinning medications at least 14 days before the procedure, if permitted by your doctor. Also, discontinue medications containing acetylsalicylic acid. Inform your doctor of all health issues and all medications you are taking to avoid unnecessary subsequent problems.
The procedure is generally well tolerated; the treated areas may be red, and swelling or bruising may appear at the injection sites, which will disappear within a few days. Hospitalization is not necessary in the case of outpatient treatment with local anesthesia, and reintegration into normal life is almost immediate; however, we recommend at least 3 days of lighter activities. After general anesthesia, a 1-day hospitalization is always required, followed by a week of work incapacity restrictions. A standard recovery period of one month is observed, during which it is necessary to wear special elastic garments, even overnight. Maintaining proper hydration is essential!
Important to know – the quality, elasticity, and skin contraction all contribute to a good result. After fat suctioning, the subcutaneous area is released, and since skin elasticity decreases with age, it may show unsightly protruding skin parts.
The final result is visible after 14 days, although for some, it may take up to 2 months.
