Before my own abdominoplasty, I underwent several consultations with different plastic surgeons. How is the autoaugmentation breast procedure performed?
Breast augmentation with autologous fat may seem somewhat complicated at first glance, but in reality, it is the simplest, most natural, and least risky way to add desirable volume to the breasts. How is it performed?
First, the suitability of the client for this type of procedure will be assessed. In addition to excluding classical contraindications (pregnancy, breastfeeding, currently ongoing illness, strong nicotine dependence), it is necessary for there to be a sufficient amount of fat on the body for removal. If your figure is slim, it will be necessary to use breast implants.
All necessary preoperative examinations will be performed.
During the surgery, fat is suctioned from a predetermined area (liposuction) and immediately processed so that it can become new living tissue in the breasts. Therefore, only viable cells are separated from it. These are injected into the breasts, which then increase in size by approximately one cup size. The entire procedure lasts 3 hours, during which you remain under general anesthesia.
Immediately upon waking, you will notice the result: the breasts will be larger and the abdomen or thighs (or part of the buttocks) smaller.

Autoaugmentation has one huge advantage over augmentation with implants: the body accepts its own cells, rather than something foreign. This eliminates not only allergic reactions but also any undesirable shifts or even ruptures – both immediately after the surgery and any time later.
Therefore, postoperative care is significantly simpler and recovery is much faster. On the second day after the procedure, patients are usually discharged for home care and can virtually function without significant restrictions. In the first few days, they only need to:
- avoid physically demanding work or sports
- go without a bra with underwire or rigid supports (preferably wear sports bras)
- try to sleep on their back or side

What do clients most frequently ask about?
Implants are usually silicone, which is a foreign element. Autologous fat is your own tissue, which the body accepts without issues. However, only a limited amount can be injected to avoid compromising its blood supply. If it were too thick, it would die. This is exactly why augmentation is only possible by one size. But this actually has its advantage; even with silicones, it is not recommended to excessively enlarge the breasts, as it appears unnatural and can lead to posture problems.
Autologous fat tends to be absorbed, so sometimes a portion of the new volume (up to 50%) may be lost over the years. However, nothing prevents the procedure from being repeated.
Due to the properties of the implanted material, the risks are the same as with any other surgery, minimal for a healthy and properly examined individual. The breasts will be swollen after the procedure and may be sore, but everything can be resolved quite quickly.
